Katarzyna Majer-Gębska

MANAGING COUNSEL, ATTORNEY-AT-LAW

She specialises in capital markets law, with particular emphasis on the activities of investment funds and investment companies, as well as commercial and financial law. She also has procedural practice in representing financial institutions in court disputes. She gained her professional experience as a lawyer at Warsaw law firms specialising in servicing the capital market, in court proceedings and in a leading investment fund company.

In her professional career to date, Katarzyna Majer-Gębska has conducted, among others, proceedings before the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) related to the establishment and registration of investment fund companies, obtaining permits for intermediation in the sale and redemption of participation units, permits for conducting brokerage activities, permits for managing portfolios of securitised debts and approvals for portfolio management; she also conducted audits of financial institutions and real estates and represented financial institutions in proceedings before the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK).

Currently, she participates in provision of the day-to-day services for financial market entities, including investment fund companies, brokerage houses and offices, branches of foreign investment companies, agents of investment companies and public companies. She provides counselling to both supervised entities and investors on a wide range of financial transactions, AML and regulatory issues.

She has experience in performing the function of a supervisory inspector in capital market entities. She serves on several supervisory boards of regulated entities.

She conducts trainings, among others in the field of activity of capital market entities, AML and crowdfunding. She is a lecturer in energy law at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering at the Warsaw University of Technology. Academic staff member at the Managers’ Academy of Applied Sciences in Warsaw (MANS). She teaches postgraduate courses: ‘ESG in Business’ and ‘EMBA – Sustainable Development ESG’.

Graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw and the Center for American Law at the University of Florida.
